Julia Lezhneva’s recital «Mozart-Gala»

On 30 May a Julia Lezhneva’s recital which opens a new project of the Elena Obraztsova Foundation — «Golden voices of the Elena Obraztsova competitions» — will be held at the Grand Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Julia Lezhneva is one of the few singers who gained international recognition at an early age. She drew public attention at the age of 16, in 2006, when she was awarded Grand Prix at the Elena Obraztsova International Competition of Young Vocalists, and one year later, in 2007, she won Grand Prix once again – this time at the Elena Obraztsova International Competition of Young Opera Singers.
In 2008, the singer appeared at the opening of the Rossini Festival in Pesaro with Juan Diego Flórez and the orchestra led by A. Zedda and took part in the recording of the Bach’s Mass in B Minor with Les Musiciens du Louvre led by M. Minkowski.

Julia Lezhneva is a Winner of the Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition in Helsinki (2009) and Paris International Opera Competition (2010). In 2010, she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival with Les Musiciens du Louvre and performed a recital with Mozarteum Orchestra; she also appeared at the London’s Royal Albert Hall, at the Classical Brit Award Ceremony at the invitation of famous Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.

Currently, Julia Lezhneva performs at the most prestigious opera theatres and concert halls of the world, including Royal Albert Hall and Barbican Centre in London, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Salle Pleyel and Salle Gaveau in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wiener Konzerthaus, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, Grand Halls of the Moscow Conservatory and St. Petersburg Philharmonia, Bolshoi Theatre of Russia and others.

Julia Lezhneva received many prestigious prizes. Since 2011 she has been an exclusive Decca artist.

The singer’s repertoire ranges from the works of early baroque and the heights of belcanto to late romantic style.

Mikhail Antonenko is a Russian pianist and conductor; he performs as a solo pianist in Russia, Great Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. He made his conducting debut in December 2015 at the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Mikhail performs with symphony orchestras at the world’s leading concert halls including Wiener Konzerthaus, Konzerthaus Berlin, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and  Salle Gaveau in Paris, Melbourne Recital Centre, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Grand and Small Halls of the St. Petersburg Philharmonia. He also takes part in the festivals such as Gstaad Mehnuhin Festival, Quincena Musical de San Sebastián, Festival de Música de Torroella de Montgrí, Castell de Peralada Festival and “December Nights of Sviatoslav Richter” International Music Festival in Moscow. Mikhail Antontenko has been permanent pianist for soprano Julia Lezhneva since 2007.

The program of the concert on 30 May includes Symphony No. 35 in D Major “Haffner”, opera and concert arias and sacred music by Mozart. Performers are Julia Lezhneva, Vocal Ensemble “Intrada” led by Ekaterina Antonenko, State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia led by Alexei Utkin. Conductor of the concert — Mikhail Antonenko.
